A red rainfall warning was issued at 12.57pm today in Guangzhou for Huangpu, Liwan, Yuexiu and Haizhu districts.
The alert is the result of close to 100 millimeters of rain falling in Tianhe, Yuexiu and Liwan since 10am this morning.
Classes at most primary and secondary schools have been canceled this afternoon and ‘large-scale outdoor activities’ have been suspended, according to a report carried by Tencent News.
The rainfall is expected to continue for at least the next three hours and commuters are being advised that transportation in Guangzhou may be affected.
So, Guangzhouers: plan ahead for your trip home tonight, it will likely take longer that usual.
