On August 25, the long arm of American justice managed to catch up with an escaped US criminal in Guangzhou, then extradite him back to the United States, according to state-run news agency Xinhua.

The convict, Ferguson Naquan, was arrested in June 2013 for the armed robbery of a jewelry shop in Greenwich, Connecticut, according to South China Morning Post

Naquan was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years behind bars, but disappeared while temporarily released on bail in October 2014. Interpol released a red notice for his arrest in May 2015.

Although Naquan is believed to have entered Guangzhou in February of this year, it has not been reported where else the fugitive went during his time on the run.

Naquan was arrested by Chinese authorities in Guangzhou at the request of the US Department of Justice. The date of his capture has not been released.

"We have captured and repatriated the U.S. fugitive within half a year, which fully reflects that China has adopted a 'zero tolerance' attitude in fighting cross-border crimes," an official with China’s Ministry of Public Security told Xinhua.
