An orange typhoon warning has been issued for both Shenzhen and Guangzhou in anticipation of Typhoon Pakhar’s arrival later this morning, while Zhuhai has released a red warning – the highest in the mainland’s typhoon alert system.

A T8 signal has been issued for both Hong Kong and Macau, the latter of which is still recovering from Typhoon Hato, which brought death, flooding and a massive power outage to the city.

Authorities in Macau are encouraging the public to take precautionary measures, according to South China Morning Post. The city’s weather bureau has said children should remain inside and windows and doors should be properly latched.

Bridges in southern China's casino Mecca are set to close “at any moment,” according to the SCMP.

On the mainland, flight cancelations and delays have been reported in Shenzhen and train service to Zhuhai will see a reduced schedule today as a result of Typhoon Pakhar.

The storm’s impending arrival in South China comes just days after Typhoon Hato slammed Guangdong’s Pearl River Delta region, shuttering schools, killing well over a dozen people and causing transportation mayhem.

The team at That’s is monitoring the situation closely and will report closures and transportation delays if – or when – they are announced, so check back regularly for updates.
