August 23: Peacock’s Winter by Yang Liping
Dubbed ‘the peacock princess of China’, Yang Liping, a Bai ethnic dancer, choreographer and director from Yunnan, is famous for her exotic dances, in which her gestures and movements resemble a dancing peacock. Yang made her name known to the world with Dynamic Yunnan, which toured Europe and the US. She is to present Peacock’s Winter at the Guangzhou Opera House this week.

Until August 23: Foods Presents Sensational Singaporean Cuisines
To commemorate the 52nd National Day of Singapore, from August 16-23, diners can experience what the Singaporeans call ‘shiok’ at Foods restaurant’s food festival. Two guest chefs, Ong Kim Hui and Cheang Kuang Hui, from the renowned Colony restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, are serving up a melting pot of flavors influenced by Chinese, Malay, Indian and Peranakan cuisines, which are a reflection of Singapore’s multicultural culinary heritage.

August 24: Mediterranean Night at La Medina
La Medina invites you to savor its Mediterranean fare this week. Owners of La Medina are striving to present authentic cuisine like they tasted (and fell in love with) while visiting North Africa. They’ve personally sought out and hired a Moroccan chef and import fresh spices straight from the medina. So head over on Thursday evening and enjoy a free flow of food and wine at only RMB180 per person.

August 24: Trivia at Hooley's Irish Pub

August 25: Axtone Label Night
Axtone Records is the label of Swedish Superstar DJ and producer Axwell. The label started in 2005 as an imprint to release Axwell’s own material such as ‘Watch The Sunrise’ and ‘I Found U’, both of which went on to become worldwide hits. The Axtone Label Night will feature Tom Staar – or Tommy Supernova, as we have affectionately dubbed him – and Ralph Felix.

August 26: The Royal Concept
The Royal Concept is a Swedish band founded in 2010. They first received worldwide attention with their hit single ‘D-D-Dance,’ but it wasn’t until 2013, when their song ‘On Our Way’ was covered in season five of Glee, that the quartet became more widely known. Their latest album Smile is an upbeat and energetic record.

August 26: Food and Wine Experience by DoubleTree by Hilton Guangzhou
DoubleTree by Hilton Guangzhou will host its third Food & Wine Experience on August 26. The event has been running for over 18 years at Hilton Beijing and provides more than 600 goodies including wines, spirits, coffees, juices, pastries, chocolates, teas, beers, meats and so froth. Last year, the occasion was quite a buzz with many of China’s major wine, beverage, food and related equipment suppliers showcasing their products.
The event will be divided into two parts: one, running from noon till 3pm, is dedicated to people in the food and beverage field; the other, from 3-7pm, is open to the public. For the second part, a buffet at Open Restaurant will be included and complemented by live entertainment and interactive activities such as bartending performances, cooking classes and wine seminars. August 26: MusicFestAsia x Apster Exclusive Guangdong Debut Show
Hailing all the way from the Netherlands, Apster is scheduled to debut in Guangzhou this weekend. Signed to fellow Dutch DJ Afrojack's Wall Records, Apster has performed at the hottest festivals across the Globe, including Ultra Miami, Ultra Europe, Tomorrowland, EDC, Storm Shanghai and more. August 27: TEDxXiguanED
This is a special episode focusing on education and hosted by TEDxXiguan. Taking place at AISG, speeches will be given by some of the best educators from both the US and China, discussing topics like the gaokao. Workshops will also be arranged afterwards for the audience to engage directly with the speakers.

August 27: Conveyer
