August 1: Whiskey Tasting
Featuring three top-shelf whiskey varities – Glenfarclas (12 years), Talisker (10 years) and Lagavulin (16 years) – this tasting at Morton’s Grille will delight attendees with aromatic cheddar cheese, steak sandwiches and tuna tacos!

August 2-6: The Las Vegas Magician Show
Gathering some of Las Vegas’s top magicians, this jaw-dropping magic show will excite the senses and send your imagination into overdrive. Being billed as a ‘mind-opening’ experience, the show will feature Jeff McBride, who holds several Guinness World Records, Arianna Black, one of the most acclaimed female magicians in the field of magic, and Dean Gunnarson, the ‘escape master’ from Canada.

August 3: Mongolian Band Hani China Tour
Hani hails from the grasslands of Hulunbuir in Inner Mongolia, which is considered the most beautiful prairie area of its kind in China. Having spent their childhoods in the region, the group’s members are able to transport listeners to their homeland with their poetic music.

August 5: Chinese Calligraphy Workshop
This Chinese calligraphy workshop is held every Saturday and is free to attend. It’s a great opportunity to meet like-minded individuals who share your passion for China’s rich cultural traditions!

August 5-29: Wildlife Photographer of the Year
An international wildlife photography contest hosted by the Natural History Museum in London, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY) showcases the world’s best nature photography. It consists of a worldwide tour, which will arrive in Guangzhou this month. The exhibited photos are taken by photographers around the globe, from the prairies of eastern Africa, to the Amazon rainforest and other places beyond your imagination.
While promoting wildlife and environment protection, the WPY exhibition in Guangzhou will also include games, installations and a section showcasing China’s state-protected animals.

August 6: Food Therapy and Yoga Workshop
Visiting from Shanghai, wellness coach, author and chef Kimberly Ashton wants to teach you how to make delicious food by applying aspects of traditional Chinese medicine and macrobiotic theory in the morning session of this one-day workshop. August 6: Vertical Marathon
On August 6, in celebration of National Fitness Day, runners from across the Pearl River Delta are being invited to run up OneLink Walk. The building has 50 floors and stands 222 meters in height. The event will also feature a ‘bubble run’ portion, in which two big bubble machines will blast participants with wet, slippery bubbles. We know what you are thinking (‘that sounds dangerous before running up 50 floors’) and we can report that organizers will have a ‘drying area’ for runners before they begin their ascent up OneLink Walk. Ongoing: VR+Paradise
Located in Fashion Tianhe Plaza, Guangzhou’s hub for the young and fashionable, VR+Paradise is a brand-new venue dedicated to virtual reality gaming. Separating itself from other VR gaming outlets, VR+Paradise has real objects installed in the gaming areas that are viewable with your headset, which allows users to touch, lean on and interact with props for a more realistic experience. And for the first time, games can be played by multiple users simultaneously.
Six gaming rooms are arranged in a 300-square-meter space and, currently, three games are available to try.
