Attention hospitality industry personnel of the Pearl River Delta: Asia’s leading food, beverage and hospitality tradeshow is set to open this month in Hong Kong.
The 17th International Exhibition of Food and Drink, Hotel, Restaurant & Foodservices Equipment, Supplies & Services – otherwise known as HOFEX – will kick off on May 8 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and run until the 11th.
HOFEX 2017 will showcase over 10,000 high-quality catering products, which are sectioned by zones into foodservice equipment and supplies, catering technology (fingers crossed for food delivery drones), food and beverage, bakery and confectionary and wine and spirits.
Over 2,500 international exhibitors representing 75 countries will hit the floor in the 66,000 square-meter exhibition space, offering attendees a seemingly endless variety of products to browse, taste and purchase.
In an effort to make this year’s rendition of the event even bigger and more memorable, organizers have arranged several demonstrations and competitions to keep guests entertained. See below for a rundown of the offerings:
‘Mixed Barista Arts’ Competition
With of aim of discovering the best barista in Asia, HOFEX 2017 will organize a brand new barista coffee contest – 'Mix Barista Arts' (MBA).
Distinguished from other coffee competitions, which focus on taste-challenge excellence, MBA will be a comprehensive competition by testing contestants’ practical skills; from assembling a grinder, making a shot within a designated time and creating the best latte art, to cooperating within a team efficiently. Contestants have to shine in all stages to be crowned as the best all-round barista in Asia.
MEAT @ HOFEX
HOFEX 2015 blazed the way when it comes to showcasing top-notch meat products in Asia with its 'MEAT @ HOFEX’ zone. The area's main goal is to satisfy Asian consumers’ demand for high-quality meat. The response: spectacular.
HOFEX 2017 will continue with this specialized zone, offering meat products, competitions and educational seminars. Of note: the well-known Hong Kong International Culinary Classics (HKICC) will launch 'The Second Butchery Skills Challenge' competition to promote the intricate art of butchery.
ProWine Wine Masters Gathering
What would a hospitality expo be without alcohol? The answer: not much. Luckily, the good people at HOFEX know this and have partnered with the largest international wine and spirits trade fair, ‘ProWine,’ to give attendees an amazing selection of high-quality booze from which to sample. In addition to high-grade wines, beers, professional wine equipment and accessories, the ProWine Wine Master Gathering will also offer seminars and presentations by industry experts.
