April 25: Idea Exchange
Coming into being in 2013, Idea Exchange features guest speakers that address a variety of topics, which are followed by lively Q&A sessions to get everyone involved in discussion and debate. Themes like habits and hobbies, communication and negotiation, as well as magic have previously raised interest among audiences. The event takes place every Tuesday at E Coffee – it’s a great occasion to meet like-minded people!

April 26 & 30: Capoeira Brasil in Guangzhou
An organization with representatives all over the world, Capoeira Brasil practices, teaches and demonstrates the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira. Under the auspices of the Hong Kong branch, Mekael Turner runs classes every Wednesday and Sunday at Guangzhou’s new TMT Gym beside the river in Liede. Turner, who also goes by his capoeira nickname ‘Jamaica,’ describes the sport as “like a conversation,” not just between the two bodies facing off against one another, but in the interaction of the different elements that make up the martial art, including playing an instrument called the berimbau and chanting in Portuguese.

April 28: King’s Day Dutch Orange Party
King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands has been doing great and the Dutch community in Guangzhou is toasting for his good heath.
In celebration of King’s Day, the Ritz-Carlton, Guangzhou is throwing a party that will boast live music, beers, wines and finger foods (a party combo we like to call “The Perfect Four”). Make sure to pair your attire with something orange, because the best-dressed boy or girl will collect a little surprise.

April 28-29: Twelfth Night
Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night is a comedy of gender fusion in which a girl disguises herself as man to be closer to the count she adores. After many an adaptation, including a 1996 Oscar-nominated film, TNT Theatre – well known and much loved in China for touring Shakespeare plays and Dickens adaptations – has crafted a version with a contemporary, absurd twist.

April 28-May 1: Party Pier Gourmet Festival
This May Day weekend, Party Pier is holding a much-anticipated food festival, inviting Guangzhou foodies to fill their Moments with food porn. There will be over 80 stalls and 20 'mini creative markets.' Food featured at the event will hail from around the globe and, in addition to edibles, their will be a variety of games and workshops to keep you entertained.

April 30: DJ Bell Towers
Hailing from Melbourne, Bell Towers is a party planner, producer and DJ, who starting spinning records back in 2008. His early sets revealed an adventurous collector with one ear for the esoteric and one for the floor, skating across Italo-disco, J-pop, new wave, house and techno with delicate grace. As a producer Bell Towers dives deep, always retaining enough of a pop element to allow easy entry before mining the depths of early morning emotion through chugging machine rhythms, ethereal pads and cunning melody. Come see him perform live at Hangover Bar this Sunday night.

April 30: DJ Gareth Emery
Originally hailing from Southampton, England, Gareth Emery is the real deal. Aside from the remarkable digital success of his latest album, 100 Reasons to Live, which was the number one on iTunes in 18 countries, Emery has become a mainstay at some of the world’s largest EDM festivals, including Ultra, EDC, Coachella and Tomorrowland. Hell, the dog-loving, fast food-avoiding DJ even performed at the 2015 European Games’ Closing Ceremony, which is ostensibly a pretty cool gig.
This Sunday, DJ Gareth Emery will cruise into Foshan's Grammy Club to deliver a performance that EDM fans will not soon forget. RVSP via info@xin-wang.com.
