Guangdong province has evidently seen eye to eye with Donald Trump on the issue of illegal immigrants. According to a report by ChinaNews.com, the Frontier Defense Police of Guangdong province, assisted by authorities in Hong Kong and Macau, as well as Guangxi, Yunnan and Fujian provinces, have arrested more than 1,800 illegal immigrant workers in 70 cases and overthrown six groups involving in immigrant worker trafficking since January 1 of this year.

One of the biggest ringleaders who came to light was a Hong Kong resident surnamed Deng, who has aided illegal immigrants in moving to Hong Kong, as well as Guangdong and Fujian provinces, through forging certificates and tourist visas in addition to other approaches.

On February 19, using information supplied by the Frontier Defense Police of Guangxi province, Guangdong police captured eight ringleaders who are suspected of transporting 80 illegal, Southeastern Asian workers into a factory in Dongguan. Two employers at the factory were also detained.

The apprehended workers, the majority of whom hail from Southeast Asia, either attempted to go to coastal regions in Guangdong or traveled through the province en route to Hong Kong.

Guangdong authorities have committed to continue cracking down on cross-border crime.
