March 21: A Taste of France
As part of this year’s Francophonie Festival in South China, dozens of distinguished restaurants in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Sanya will present the art of French cuisine with specially designed menus at a range of prices. Restaurants were selected by 15 world-renowned chefs and their menus focus on minimal use of salt, sugar and oil while retaining the chic presentation as well as quality of dishes.

March 21: Idea Exchange
If you suffer from excessive stress, come to this week’s Idea Exchange, where two speakers will give practical tips and teach relaxation exercises to help relieve stress and stay focused. Alisha and Lavanya Sabharwal were named by the Times of India as trendsetting entrepreneurs who have benefited from successful stress management. They tour India regularly to speak about stress reduction for the Art of Living Foundation.

March 22-25: New Menu by Michelin-Starred Chef at Limoni
Experience gourmet Italian cuisine created by Michelin-starred guest chef Davide Pezzuto of Salento, Italy. Chef Pezzuto carefully chooses the ingredients that go into his ingenious creations. With stylish décor and a well-stocked wine cellar to boot, dining at Limoni this week will be especially unforgettable. March 23: Papanosh
Winner of the 2013 Jazz Migration competition, the Papanosh jazz band is performing for the first time in China for this year’s Francophonie Festival. With their canny joint improvisation, Papanosh have been said to “treat traditional musical forms as a deranged trampoline,” displaying a sense of humor as mischievous as it is absurd, as well as a predilection for collage and disruption. March 25: High Tea Etiquette Class
EtonHouse International School’s principal, Grainne O’Reilly, is bringing a touch of England to Foshan on Saturday, March 25. In partnership with China Guangfa Bank, O'Reilly will teach attendees about proper British etiquette and how it is applied to afternoon tea. The tradition is a leisurely but formal affair with beautiful china, silver, napkins and, of course, the famous British scones with clotted cream. EtonHouse is committed to bringing the best of Britain to its wonderful home in Foshan. After a one-hour speech, afternoon tea will be served.

March 25: Li Yundi’s Recital
The youngest pianist to win the International Chopin Piano Competition, Li has been called the ‘prince of piano,’ a ‘Chopin of the 21st century’ and ‘China’s leading pianist.’ Since 2000, he has collaborated with some of the world’s best orchestras in renowned concert halls and music festivals. See him at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall this month.

Until March 25: Francophone Cinema Festival
The Francophone Cinema Festival celebrates the richness and diversity of the French-speaking world. This year’s program contains 20 long and short films from 19 Francophone regions. Highlights include Fatima by Philippe Faucon, which won Best Picture at the 2015 Cesar Awards, and one of the most successful French comedies of 2016, One Man and His Cow.

March 25-26: The Game of Love and Chance
With its emphasis on dissimulation and double meaning, The Game of Love and Chance represented the pinnacle of French playwright Pierre de Marivaux’s career. In the play, Silva swaps places with her servant in an attempt to learn more about the man she is betrothed to, Dorante. Unaware of the deception, Dorante has exactly the same idea. Misunderstanding and irony abound under the direction of the experienced Philppe Calvario.

Until March 28: Everyday Exhibition
Art can be born from everyday life, as Guangzhou-based painter Zhang Wei hopes to prove with his latest exhibition. Growing up in a time of turbulence, instead of responding with derision or black humor, Zhang decided to depict everyday objects and landscapes with his brush. There’s only one truth, he says, in reality.

Ongoing: Ladies Night at the Connoisseur
