Two young girls disappeared on Sunday afternoon after crossing into Shenzhen from Hong Kong at the Shenzhen Bay border checkpoint, according to South China Morning Post.

The girls, aged 12 and 14, were reported missing on Monday by their parents, who contacted authorities in both Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

According to SCMP, the youths are said to have disappeared somewhere near the border checkpoint shortly after entering Shenzhen.

Police in Shenzhen have published a plea for information about the girls’ disappearance on their official Weibo account. The post contained the girls’ pictures and stated that one of the youths had a small suitcase, while the other was wearing a black backpack.

Both girls are reportedly students at Ju Ching Chu Secondary School in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong.
