PHOTOS: October Holiday Crowds Swarm Tourist Sites

As predicted, National Day traffic was horrendous and domestic tourists swarmed famous sites and landmarks like bees attacking a honey-starved bear.

Bad transportation and crowds are synonymous with Chinese holidays, particularly the two ‘Golden Weeks’ – Spring Festival and National Day. Last year, 532 million domestic trips were made during the October Golden Week, a 10 percent increase from the year before.

As we previously reported, this year’s holiday, which began yesterday, is predicted to be the busiest on record – with over 55 percent of China’s population expected to travel.

Now, sit back and marvel with us at the madness that ensues when over 600 million people decided to vacation at the same time!
