Here are all the new restaurant and bar openings we featured in our June 2016 issue:
New Restaurants
Le Fournil De Pierre
Good for brisk business meetings and rest stops in between shopping, this new café boasts a moderately long list of drinks, including the delightful Avocado milkshake (RMB35), an invigorating blend of avocado and homemade yogurt. True to its French name, Le Fournil De Pierre offers buttery croissants (RMB12), fresh fruit and creme anglaise tartlets (RMB26) and baguettes (RMB18).
Price: RMB50
Who’s going: tai tais, tired shoppers
Good for: light meals, Parisian memories

Pho Kim Saigon
The first Pho Kim Saigon branch on the Chinese mainland, this location offers a variety of soup options, including: chicken (RMB36), beef (RMB38) and premium wagyu beef (RMB68). Aside from pho, this eatery serves a range of sides, including lightly battered Vietnamese fried spring rolls (RMB22) and traditional banh xeo, or a salted pancake (RMB28). A fairly predictable pho experience, but worth a visit.
Price: RMB50
Who’s going: pho-togenic patrons, famished shoppers
Good for: pho-king awesome pho, an easy lunch

Paradise India
Paradise India boasts no indoor seating and no fancy decorations – instead choosing to make its name on good food and fair, honest prices. Top curry choices include the mutton roganjosh (RMB65), chicken masala (RMB55) and our personal favorite, the saag paneer (RMB50). Your best bread option, by our assessment, is the cheese paratha (RMB25), although we also enjoyed the onion kulcha (RMB15).
Price: RMB100
Who's going: Chino and other curry-deprived Liede characters
Good for: tasty curries and Kingfisher beer

Fish & Co.
All new, all brand consistent and all the way from Singapore is Fish & Co. – a casual, family-style franchise that now boasts of being in 10 countries. Starters like mussels with lemon butter garlic sauce (RMB88) and clams in curry butter (RMB48) are as succulent as they sound, and not to mention an excellent value. For mains, there are five types of fish & chips, five types of platters and even five types of combos, making one wonder if perhaps this is done on purpose...
Price: RMB70
Who’s going: seafood lovers, families on a budget
Good for: omega-3 explosions, crunch addicts

Kiss Bottle
Plopped behind Happy Valley Mall and the Happy Monk, Kiss Bottle’s vibe is much what you’d expect from a place sandwiched between optimists day after day. Cool, confident and with a hint of underlying attitude, waitresses are clever and pay close attention to water glasses. Try the thin crust pizzas, which include the delicious organic pumpkin, feta and mozzarella cheese (RMB75/95) and the Parma ham, salami and mozzarella cheese (RMB75/95). The sandwiches (as you can see above) are also worthy of exploration.
Price: RMB150
Who’s going: the more clean-shaven shoppers of Happy Valley Mall
Good for: fine appies, solid cocktails and Instagram likes

New Bar
1874
Modeled after a typical hostel in Yunnan or Chengdu, 1874 is adorned with hanging backpacks, old travel photos, colorful pennants, hookah and a stage for live music. The menu is a mix of hiker’s grub, standard cafe beverages and a pleasantly broad selection of booze. Everything is buy-one-get-one-free until 6pm. With a decent (albeit strange) selection of cocktails and some unique beer offerings, this new bar is definitely worth a visit.
Price: RMB30
Who’s going: those looking for a place to crash
Good for: sharing travel stories, sipping cocktails, live
