April 28: Happy Thursdays at The Happy Monk

April 28: Malbec World Day in Guangzhou
On April 28, the sixth edition of Malbec World Day will grace Guangzhou with wine tastings, expert talks and discounts, according to a press release from Wines of Argentina (WOFA). The aim of the event is to promote the image of Argentine wines abroad and it's expected to draw 3000 attendees. There will be wine from over 50 wineries available to taste at the event, as well as presentations from renowned winemakers, live music, Malbec based cocktails and traditional Argentine food from the best chefs in the region.

April 29: Lesoir
Through trial and error, success and setback, Dutch rock band Lesoir has found their own sound and is adored by audiences across the Netherlands. In the words of their lead singer, “Making music is the ultimate means of personal feelings. Emotion is the basis of any art form.” After a fruitful tour in the UK where they inspired a producer to support their third album, Lesoir is psyched to commence their third China tour this month and will arrive in Guangzhou on April 29.

April 29: The Spring Fling Pub Crawl
Spring has arrived and with it comes one of Guangzhou’s best pub-crawls – the Spring Fling Pub Crawl. Organized and hosted by iconic Guangzhou character Joshua James, this wild ride will take 50 lucky crawlers to three elite downtown bars – The Brew Zhujiang, Hooley’s and Rebel Rebel – before venturing across the bridge to the newly reopened SUNS Club. Tickets are only RMB100 and include bus transportation between bars, free beer and shooters while on the bus, glow sticks, body and face paint and other party favors. Amadeus is an EDM/ Progressive House/ Electro/ Hands In The Air/High Energy DJ from New York, USA. He frequently tours all over Asia, the US, Canada and Eastern Europe – in addition to his multiple home residencies in New York.

April 30: Dr. Panda Comedy Club: Gags in Guangzhou
Like stand-up comedy? Think the PRD is lacking laughs? Think again. Every month, comedians from Hong Kong (as well as one international headliner) take a train up to Guangzhou to perform at The Paddy Field Bar and Restaurant as part of the Dr. Panda Comedy Club. This month, the group will bring Gags in Guangzhou, featuring comedian Chris Mushi from San Francisco, who enjoys making fun of everything he’s in contact with, and Ryan Hynek who hails from Chicago and has been cracking jokes on Asia’s comedy scene since 2007. Come on out for a laugh.

April 30 - May 1: Tennis Experimental Class
Developing a new, healthy habit is always interesting, especially in the blooming season of spring. Picking up a new sport, however, is much easier if you’re surrounded by fellow peers of the same skill and interest level. For those who fancy tennis as a pastime, Yidao Sport offers experimental classes taught by professionals, no matter your skill level. May 1-2: The Hermit of Piano by Christian Blackshaw
Tutored by eminent British classical pianist Sir Clifford Curzon, Christian Blackshaw is a concert pianist of international stature. Returning to the piano after a lengthy interval following his wife’s death, Blackshaw’s musicianship didn’t forsake him. His performances still express a range of musical virtues – elegant with a touch of poetic feel. For his China tour, Blackshaw has selected unique numbers to uplift audience members. Come and bask in the grace of Blackshaw’s expressive performance.
