April 15: Across the Atlantic Ocean – Duo Guitar by Roberto Borbone and Lan Rowe
Born in Naples, Roberto Borbone started learning classical guitar at age 9. A young Italian musician who shines in both solo performances and as a member of a chamber orchestra, Borbone has toured Europe and Asia on the Musical World Tour in China, 2013 and The Italian Portrait in Belgium, 2014. By his side is American guitarist Lan Rowe, who hails from Hawaii. Beginning lessons in guitar at age 10, Rowe has held countless concerts since his high school years and now teaches at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston. This month, Rowe and Borbone will stop in Guangzhou on April 15 during their tour of Asia. Don’t miss this incredible pair together on stage.

April 15: The Best of Maximilian Hecker China Tour
German music producer and songwriter Maximilian Hecker is adored for his delicate voice and troubadour-like quality, leaving an unconventional impression on fans. From his very first album Infinite Love Songs to the latest Spellbound Scenes of My Cure, Hecker, an all-around musician, has insisted on composing, singing and playing instruments on his own. During his China tour, Hecker will share little-known anecdotes behind songs like ‘Pearly River Gates,’ inspired by his trip to Hong Kong, and ‘Partyworld,’ which is based on experiences in Taipei. Book your tickets to hear this awe-inspiring German musician perform at the Xinghai Concert Hall.

April 16: Traditional Chinese Music
Confucius once said: “The wise find pleasure in water; the virtuous find pleasure in hills.” Chinese music is often a manifestation of man’s relation to nature, expressed with soothing and sometimes piercingly pure sounds from ancient string instruments. This month, renowned musicians from Hong Kong, Taiwan and the mainland will convene in Guangzhou to present a concert in salutation of traditional Chinese genres. This is a unique opportunity to hear the quintessential sounds of the Middle Kingdom as it would have been heard thousands of years ago.

April 16: GDJYB - Hong Kong Girl Band
Hailing from Hong Kong, GDJYB – standing for the Chinese dish steamed meat loaf with egg – is an indie math-folk girl band that consists of guitarist Soni Cheng, drummer Heibei Hg, vocalist Soft Liu and bassist Yellow Yi Wong. Through mixing math rock and folk music, which are performed in Hong Kong English, GDJYB has been feeding Hong Kong’s music scene with changing tempos and patterns since the band was formed in 2012. An active partaker in major music festivals like Clockenflap and Midi Festival, the girl band was one of the ‘23 new rising stars’ in Hong Kong named by Time Out HK magazine. GDJYB is performing at the Live Wild Space on April 16. Book your tickets now!

April 9-10: Tennis Experimental Class
Developing a new, healthy habit is always interesting, especially in the blooming season of spring. Picking up a new sport, however, is much easier if you’re surrounded by fellow peers of the same skill and interest level. Aloha! Tangba Ukulele, one of the largest ukulele courses throughout China, is dedicated to promoting the art and teaching interested students how to play this unique Hawaiian instrument.
