They say it’s a dog’s life and so it proved to be on March 20, when the gods in doggy heaven decreed, “the rain shall cease for Tangla Dongguan’s first Doggy Walkathon.”

The balmy Sunday afternoon saw 250 dog lovers and over 100 dogs take place in the event – which helped the Tangla Dongguan Hotel to raise an impressive RMB20,000 for the dog loving charity, My Paws & Me.

Now, when 100 dogs come to casually hang out together for the first time, madness is expected to ensue – and what a day it was. Dogs ran, leapt, swam, snarled and howled with joy, and more than a few owners found it hard to keep up with their excitable four-legged friends.

The giant pack of dogs was truly and eclectic mix, featuring German shepherds, shihbas, and huskies, right through to poodles, golden retrievers and terriers. A group of nine dogs from My Paws & Me eagerly hoped they might find a new family at the event, although it wasn’t immediately clear if any dogs were adopted at the walk.
