United Strangers is the product of intersecting fields of design with the common goal of creating fresh pieces of contemporary furniture under the brand LDK. The inviting rusted-steel framed glass house features a range of living space pieces that mix contemporary design with antique or natural characteristics. LDK’s designs often feature contrasting materials, such as combining natural wooden tones with metal or sleek white finishes.

The high-end furniture shop is located on the edge of Redtory on Siheng Lu in a two-storey building, with its design office on the second floor. Highlighted in their window display is their popular London Armchair (RMB5,378) that comes in a selection of colours and materials.

The densely packed showroom features pieces from all six of their collections, the three major ones being Bamboo, Le Cabane and Shipwood. The Shipwood series is unique because the wood used in its pieces was recovered from old Chinese trade boats which are up to 70 years old. Salvaging and re-using materials such as this reflect the company’s aim of promoting eco-consciousness in China.

Le Cabane is a line of rounded edged cabinets accentuated with handles and hinges similar to those of vintage refrigerators. The cabinets come in three different sizes and finishes, with two different tones of pinewood or a high-gloss white finish. The Low Cabinet (RMB7,618) has three compartments and also has a vertical option. Featured in the Bamboo series is the Fit Out shelf (RMB6,148), a large bookshelf made of intersecting wooden panels.

Other household accessories are also available, including lamps, candleholders, bowls, cups and picture frames, as well as artwork. A line of Black Label bags are also available, prices ranging from RMB388 to RMB488.
