December 5: 13th Annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research
Guangzhou’s 13th annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research will be held this Saturday. The event, named after an inspiring young Canadian man, was first launched by a group of followers enthused to keep the young man’s dream – to defeat cancer – alive.
Last year’s saw around 4,800 people participate in Guangzhou, raising an astounding RMB458,000 for local cancer research.

December 5: Guangzhou Santa Pub Crawl
Prepare your Santa garb and serve your liver warning, because December 5 is the 12th Annual Guangzhou Santa Pub Crawl. This year’s drunken Santa adventure, like past years, will start at The Paddy Field Irish Bar on Huale Lu. The rest of the itinerary is a closely guarded secret.
Tickets are on sale now and, with only 250 available, they are expected to go faster than Santa’s supernatural sleigh. Tickets are available at The Butcher Shop, The Paddy Field and the Happy Monk (Xingsheng Lu).
Cost: RMB180 in advance, RMB200 on the night of the event and RMB250 for attendees that are not in costume.

December 4-6: Guangzhou Design Week
Born in 2006, Guangzhou Design Week enters its 10th edition this year. Being the first international design and brand expo in China, it is jointly endorsed by ICSID (International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes), IFI (The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers) and ico-D (International Council of Design). The Guangzhou Design Week, a three-day fair, will see dozens of B2B expos and events.

December 4-6: Guangzhou International Beer Festival
Organized by Bevex and following the success of the Shanghai International Beer Festival, which drew 380,000 visitors, the Guangzhou International Beer Festival will debut this December. With a collection of over 100 beer labels from 24 countries, the three-day festival expects to see over 8,000 hardcore beer fanatics amass for a weekend of beer appreciation. Live DJs, beer-themed games and an eclectic spread of international foods are among the festival’s other highlights. Join in to learn more about pairing beers with food and get pumped for a wild party!

Do you want to have a creative and productive Sunday afternoon? Come to Varenna French restaurant for an artistic treat and bring home your own Monet or van Gogh paintings. With necessary materials provided, instruction from a professional painter and changing themes on a weekly basis (in accordance to students’ interest), this painting class is for a group of five or more people. This event runs until the end of January.
