Japan ushered in the modernization of the industry during the Meiji era, when handworks  were first replaced by industrial products that were mass-produced because of the introduction of machinery. However, despite industrialization after the Meiji period, handicrafts made in small workshops in Japan continued to survive in small quantities, which cultivated excellent craftsmen. Many a craftsman full of personality has been born, the works of some of whom will be displayed at this exhibition held at Hall E11 in Redtory. Exhibits range from ceramics and textiles to lacquerware and bamboo products.
