The exhibition “Extended Dwelling” invited 15 artists from Macao and Zhuhai, and unfolds in two phases: “Preview” and “Exhibition”. “Preview” was completed in August. The “Preview Exhibition” segment compiles geographical and historical annotations of key hubs from Canal dos Patos to the waters of Shizimen. It also invites artists from both regions to propose creative solutions from their perspectives as “inhabitants”. The subsequent “Exhibition” segment will further explore the creation of specific physical-spiritual installations grounded in the recognition of the reality and symbolism surrounding the “borders”. This section will accentuate the finalized artworks, signifying the possibility of a community of artists—this potential connection, undoubtedly, does not need to be forced upon the viewers and does not rely on whether each individual reaches consensus.

The exhibition weaves together geographical and historical annotations for key points between Canal dos Patos and the waters of Shizimen, mapping out and bringing to life existing pathways for exploration. Artists from both regions are invited to propose creative solutions from their unique perspectives as “inhabitants”. These artworks are envisioned as physical-spiritual installations crafted in harmony with the cognition of reality and symbolism surrounding the concept of the “border”, thereby exploring the potential for cultivating a community of artists.
