A post-secondary doesn't come cheap, so it's only understandable that students feel they're getting the most out of their tuition fees and that administrators are spending wisely to improve the quality of their education.
That's why the Wuham Institute of Bioengineering has decided to spend RMB4 million of their students' money to build what they call the "campus Great Wall."
In the spirit of Anhui's Shanzhai Sphinx and the Hebei university that made a Hogwarts copy the Shanzhai Great Wall takes a globally renowned symbol of world heritage and turns it into a cheap-looking and pointless facsimile.

1.6 kilometers long, the structure connects the campus's eastern, central and western districts. It's entrance ways are all named after famous passes through the Great Wall itself: Yanmen Pass, Wusheng Pass, and so forth.
Atop the six-story-high Xiong Guan - the "Great Pass" - you get commanding views over the entire campus.
School officials say their primary goal in building the Great Wall was to make getting around campus easier for students, providing a pedestian-only link between different areas and alleviating traffic on the ground. They also say it will "promote Great Wall culture" and "advance patriotic education" as well sports and exercise.

Although the project is not yet complete, it's apparently won "praise and eager anticipation" from staff and students. Netizens, however, remain divided. It may not be as bad as the forced corvee labor that built the original, but it's still raising some eyebrows online.
"I think it's quite good," wrote Zhang Yuqi from Hunan Province. "By current commodity prices RMB4 million isn't actually that much. It's a good thing to built a scenic route through the campus, we mustn't stifle this kind of cutting-edge thought."
Lu Shichun of Guangxi was not convinced, however: "Cutting your face and smearing shit in it is also cutting-edge and creative, but it's vicious thought and creativity! Don't you get it?"
We... think we get it. Maybe. Please don't cut us.
