Anhui driver ignores dying woman by roadside only to find out later she was his mother

A man in Wuhu, Anhui Province was on his way to visit his mother recently when he drove past a car accident on National Highway 318.

Although he could see a badly injured old woman fighting for her life on the roadside, he chose to ignore the grim scene as people often do - either out of apathy or fears that one could be cheated by those they try to help.

When he arrived at his mother's home, however, the driver was informed by her neighbors that she had left early to meet him. As a grim sense of revelation dawned on the man, he raced back to the scene of the accident he passed and discovered that the broken and bloodied woman he'd coldly sped sped past earlier was none other than his mother.

In circumstances that read almost incredulously like a Biblical parable, the unnamed driver then delivered his mother to hospital only to have her die en route. If only he had stopped earlier to help, his mother would still be alive.

According to reports, she was the victim of a hit and run, and the driver who mowed her down was caught thereafter.
