Chinese netizens are locked in the time-worn cycle of denial, defense and disassociation as their compatriots have been singled out for losing major national face yet again.

A mere week after Chinese visitors were briefly banned from Thailand's famous White Temple for defecating in the urinals, stealing toilet paper and sticking sanitary napkins to the walls, Italian web users are now reportedly gawking at photos of mainland customers at a Gucci store in Florence.

Some web users have rushed to the defense of the older ladies, arguing that their decision pop a squat and feast on cup noodles on a nearby bench was understandable: after all, they could hardly be blamed for being unaccustomed to "rare Italian beef" (before you know, that's all they eat over there).

In September, Chinese president Xi Jinping called upon citizens to "eat less instant noodles" when abroad and instead experience local food culture and support local businesses where they are. Needless to say, this is definitely Bad Panda behavior.
