Elderly couple look to 'hire' daughter: pass the interview and the family fortune is yours

A few days ago, a 'Help Wanted' notice at the Zhengzhou recruitment market in Henan Province caught many people's eyes. "Daughter Wanted," it read:

I am a doctor, female, age 68. I own several properties around the city as well as a medical clinic. However, my husband and I have no children. As we grow older, we would like to find a kind-hearted girl who’s obedient and caring to the elderly to be our dependent. If we get along well and are satisfied with each other, she will inherit our family properties. The girl we're looking for has to be under 40 years old. Please call if interested.

One perspective applicant surnamed Wang dialed the number to see if the advertisement true. “The only request I have is that you have to be kind-hearted," she was told, "don't try to cheat us.”

The old lady on the other end of the telephone emphasized that she’s very healthy now and is only looking for a "daughter" to keep them company.

However, when Wang asked if the successful candidate will inherit their real estate, the old woman got suspicious and refused to reveal any more to her.

Reporters then went to visit the elderly lady's practice but didn’t see her there. One of her two apprentices, Mr. Yang, said the lady, Ms. Liu, had cured so many patients over the years that it’s impossible to recount all of her stories in a single day. “People all say she's a 'magical doctor,'" he assured them.

Ms. Liu's husband used to work at Henan Agricultural Academy but was diagnosed with a degenerative brain disease a few years ago, leaving him paralyzed.

Yang said that Liu might be concerned about not being able to fully take care of her husband since she's getting older, and wants someone to take care of them just as a daughter would.

However, Liu has since refuted Yang's theory.

“I’m looking for a daughter, not a nanny,” she said. “It would be great if we could find a daughter. As a family member, of course we’ll leave our properties to her in the future; but if we cannot find someone whom we’re satisfied with, we’ll just donate what we have to charity, seeing as we’re used to living alone anyway.”

Nonetheless, Liu says that she won’t leave anything - even to their own child - if she is lazy or unreliable.
