PHOTOS: Zhejiang man builds epic unlicensed elevator

When your parents start aging, and climbing those pesky apartment steps starts get a bit of a bore, there's really only one thing to do. Move to a new apartment? Don't make us laugh. Instead, make us construct an epic, illegal, un-certified elevator.

To be honest, this thing doesn't look half bad - Red carpet? We're impressed. While the tech behind it (i.e. the stuff that prevents you from falling and dying) may be a bit sketchy, we like the look of those glass panels.

According to The Nanfang, the elevator was built by a Mr. Li, whose aging parents have lost the gusto to walk up to their sixth floor apartment. He tried to make a deal with local building authorities, but when that fell through, Li decided he'd just up and do it anyways. Residents have said "the private elevator blocked sunlight, ruined the environment, and took up space for parking." Yes, but the red carpet! We're still on board (just don't ask us to take a ride).
