According to new data from the Hurun Report, eight-tenths of China's wealthy send their children to be educated overseas.
The most popular choice for secondary school is the good, old-fashioned British boarding school, with 28.7 percent of China's elite agreeing that the country's future is best decided on the playing fields of Eton.
When it comes time for university, however, America takes the lead with 36 percent of subjects vouching to send their offspring to live it up in stateside colleges.
Besides the Anglo-American stalwarts, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, France, Germany, Japan and Singapore are all popular options as well.
According to Hurun, ten years ago Canada and Australia reigned supreme as "overseas study countries" because of their high proportions of citizens with Chinese roots.
Since parents wanted to send their kids somewhere where they had friends, family and other people they could rely on, these were often the only two options. As privileged Chinese have been expanding their networks of personal connections, abroad, however, they now feel safe sending their sons and daughters to study in any country.
Only ten percent of uber-loaded Germans choose to have their children study abroad; for French the number is less five percent, and for Japanese it's not even one percent.
