Chinese parents seem to be willing to do anything to help their children get into a “good” schools, and that extends to buying insanely expensive “school district housing,” bribing the graders and helping forge athletic certificates for their children.
A bizarre policy introduced recently by the government of Pujiang County in Zhejiang Province might have just taken their obsession with good grades a bit too far, however. Children whose parents have accumulatively donated 4 liters, 6 liters and 8 liters of blood can receive 1, 2, and 3 bonus points respectively in their high school entrance exam.
After his donations reached 4.3 liters, one netizen wrote on Weibo: “Note to my future son: Daddy just earned you some bonus points. Don’t worry about it!”
Let’s do the math: it would take an adult who donates blood twice a year (400 milliliters each time) five years to get that one point, and 10 years for the three-points bonus.
Whether or not this is the local government abusing the education system, it's still a hell of a lot better than forcing school children to donate blood.
