Summer 2012's fashion frenzy of the facekini is now the feature of the CR Fashion Book, the style guide from former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld.

The infamous trend flooded the Internet as Qingdao's swimmers flaunted their freakish gear of colorful full-face masks. The trend became popular among middle-aged women known as dama.

The facekini covers the entire head and neck region, leaving holes only for the eyes, nostrils and mouth. A facekini fan claimed that the fabric has not only prevented skin tan, but also kept away the jellyfish.

The collection has appropriately been named "masking in the sun."
