75 year old woman stuck down well for 7 hours

A 75 year old woman who fell down a well in Xi'an, Shaanxi province on Saturday was stuck there for seven hours before rescuers found her.

The unfortunate woman, surnamed Dai, was working out in the fields when she fell down a 20 metre (65 foot) well. 

Another woman noticed Dai had disappeared from the field as she was going to lunch at 1pm and became suspicious after seeing her bicycle was still there. An initial sweep of the area was unsuccessful, since the half-covered well was hidden from view, but her husband and other villagers eventually found Dai around 3pm. They alerted local authorities, and a firefighter was lowered down to get her out around 6pm, some seven hours after she fell in. 

The old lady only suffered minor head injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

"If she hadn't stretched out and jammed herself against the walls, she would have fallen into the water," one rescuer told reporters.
