Universal Studios Beijing Set to Open Next Spring

After several closures across Beijing, a big opening is well in order. And, well, it doesn’t get bigger than a massive theme park (the largest one of the ‘Universal kind’ in the world, in fact).

Last Wednesday, Universal Studios Beijing announced that it would start trial operations in the spring of 2021, as reported by Xinhua.

After an initial opening announcement late last year, the recent update confirms that the park is still on track for its big debut next May, despite any setbacks the pandemic may have caused.

According to Tongzhou’s culture and tourism management commission, the amusement park is currently in the phase of installing the rides, as well as building necessary facilities for operation – electricity, water, the works – inside the park.

Both the subway and city buses will have routes reaching the park. For those worried about driving, construction has also begun on roads and traffic interchanges, with the intent to smoothen the flow of arriving cars as they enter the park.

Universal Studios Beijing will have seven exciting themed lands, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness and Minion Land. Check out the full list and more details about each of the attractions here.
