Mom Delays Shanghai-Bound Flight So Daughter Can Shop Duty-Free

A concerned mother may soon find herself on Spring Airlines' blacklist. And thanks to a recent agreement between Spring Airlines and four other regional carriers, she could also be the latest addition to a list of unruly passengers shared between all five airlines.

The woman reportedly became hysterical as an international flight last week from Bangkok to Shanghai prepared to leave without her daughter, who was otherwise occupied at a duty-free shop.

The daughter had missed a call from the airline as the fight was boarding.

The flight's 160 passengers and crew were subjected to a 30-minute delay as the mother blocked the chief flight attendant from closing the cabin door.

A video shared on Daily Mail showed the woman arguing with attendants as other passengers seemed to wonder why they had to pay for her daughter's shopping habits.

The woman claimed that her daughter had called police once she realized the flight would take off without first returning luggage, at which point crew searched the cargo for the mother's and daughter's suitcases and left both bags (and Mom) behind at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.

Not only does the mother face a potential spot on five airline's blacklists, she may also earn demerits on her personal record. According to standing aviation regulations, disturbing flight order is reason enough for punishment. Spring Airlines says it has yet to make a final decision.

In the meantime, we hope she's reminded her daughter what we should all know by now: arrive at your gate at least 20 minutes before boarding.
