Curious to know which Chinese cities are ripe with job prospects?

First-tier cities remain the nation’s largest job markets, with Guangzhou providing the most jobs in enterprises in the first three months of 2019, according to a quarterly jobs report by 58 Tongcheng, a Chinese employment website.

The South China metropolis saw nearly 25% year-on-year growth in recruitment in the first quarter of the year. Meanwhile, Shenzhen was named the most attractive city for job seekers, with Beijing ranked second.

The report also notes that Shanghai enterprises still have the deepest wallets, dishing out an average salary of RMB9,723. Within an hour of Shanghai by high-speed rail, Hangzhou’s average wage was RMB8,684 for the first quarter of 2019, increasing by more than 25% year-on-year.

Below, we’ve listed the top 10 Chinese cities for job opportunities:

Job opportunities for foreigners in China are also on the rise. According to figures from a circuit of job fairs for foreigners in various Chinese cities, positions in IT, service and media industries have been on the rise in recent years and make up a sizeable proportion of job vacancies in a country where the expat job market has long been dominated by English teaching positions. In April, Xinhua reported that China issued about 336,000 work permits to foreigners in 2018, and nearly 1 million foreigners were working in some capacity or another as of the end of last year.
