On March 9, a firefighter rescued a 5-year-old girl who was hanging from the outside of an apartment window. According to a post by Jiangxi Fire Department’s official Weibo account, the rescue took place in Wanzai county in Yichun, Jiangxi province.
A resident who lives on the fourth floor reportedly heard a noise outside his apartment window. At first, the neighbor dismissed it as a cat’s meow, but soon realized a small girl was hanging onto the steel frame that surrounds their window. Firefighters arrived on the scene immediately after receiving calls, and climbed down from the fifth floor to pull the child up and in through the apartment window she had initially climbed out from.

The girl had reportedly climbed out of her family’s apartment window on the fifth floor while her parents were not home (reports do not state whether any other family members were inside the apartment at the time).

Multiple users on Weibo commented that the child should have never been left without parental supervision. Others praised the firefighter who carried out the rescue mission for being a literal lifesaver.
In August 2018, a 6-year-old boy climbed out the window of his family’s eighth floor apartment. Just like the young girl in Jiangxi, this boy was also home alone and decided to climb out the window after he heard noises, assuming “bad guys” had entered the apartment.
