Massive co-working chain WeWork is set to open a new office space in Shenzhen on September 1 as part of the company’s planned growth in Greater China. The company has already announced the opening of three new office spaces this month in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
WeWork’s new Shenzhen space will be located in Nanshan District, the city’s Tech Central. Christian Lee, WeWork’s Asia Managing Director, previously cited ‘great innovative’ companies such as Shenzhen-based Tencent as attracting the brand to expand rapidly within China, TechNode reported.
WeWork appears to still be going strong in the PRC, with openings in five new Chinese cities this year. Lee attributed this success to consumers’ fast pace of adoption: “You see companies and individuals really able to make decisions very quickly and move at a pace that’s unparalleled in the rest of the world.”
WeWork currently has around 10,000 members in China, and that number is likely to grow. This past April, founder and CEO Adam Neumann predicted that the WeWork community will have expanded to one million in Greater China by the end of 2021, according to Forbes.
