In Shenzhen, the average annual salary for mid to high-end workers ranks third nationally after Beijing and Shanghai, at RMB236,000 (US$36,486), according to a report by Liepin, a company that offers job hunting services.
In its survey of 3,000 workers, Liepin discovered that those in finance, real estate, and telecommunications had the most lucrative annual salaries, ranging from RMB242,400 to RMB274,600, according to GD Today.
Most of the workers surveyed come from Guangzhou while others have left Beijing and Shanghai for ‘China’s Silicon Valley.’ As for their scholastic achievements, 61 percent have bachelor’s degrees and about 16 percent have master’s degrees.
According to the survey, most came to Shenzhen for the inclusive atmosphere, pleasant environment and many entrepreneurial opportunities.
However, most don’t plan to stay in the city long-term. Only 2 percent of those surveyed said they planned to live in Shenzhen permanently. About 45 percent said their job opportunities will dictate their future plans, and nearly 46 percent said they don’t plan to stay in Shenzhen for a long time.
