At least two popular restaurants in Beijing's Wudaokou district have announced plans to restrict the number of foreigners allowed on their premises.
The notices state the policy will be in effect through March 22 – just two days after the Two Sessions will wrap up on March 20.
Writing scrawled across Lush's also states that the number of people allowed inside the restaurant is 70, total.
The news has spread quickly online among expats, who have greeted with a mixture of bemusement and worry. Both restaurants are popular among foreigners, particularly international students living in the neighborhood.
