In this video, NMA explains how activists such a GreatFire.org's Charlie Smith have found and exploited a major crack in the Great Firewall: Amazon and Google.
By establishing mirror sites of blocked domains (such as Reuters' Chinese language site) using subpaths of secure Amazon or Google domains, activists are able to give blocked sites a second life. If censors want to block the site they would have to block access to two of the most trafficked sites on the web. In a follow-up post, GreatFire.org argue that by using this method Google, which purports to be fighting for free speech in China, could "bring an end to censorship in 10 days".
