Sickening CCTV footage of a dog being lassoed and dragged into a van in Guangzhou was released by Pear Video on November 9.
The canine in the video is someone’s pet and was captured by a gang of dog snatchers who utilized “iron tongs and ropes to take pet dogs by force,” according to a Daily Mail report.
Footage of the shameless animal theft shows the pet pooch being dragged by a rope attached to its neck, before being yanked into the van – in broad daylight – which then speeds off.
Pear Video talked to a police spokesperson who stated that authorities have seen an increase in dog-theft cases in the area. Dog thieves allegedly hit the streets around 5am, cruising and looking for pets to steal, before taking the animals they catch to dog meat traders at roughly 10am.
According to Daily Mail, police in Guangzhou have arrested the six-member gang of dog snatchers presumably responsible for the theft in the video below. They confiscated a number of items related to the gang’s illegal and highly unethical escapades, including a number of fake car license plates.
Authorities also managed to save roughly 30 dogs that were stolen by the group and are currently looking for the pets’ owners.
