Expect extra security checks at Shanghai's train stations this month ahead of the Party Congress in Beijing.

SHINE reports that starting from today and lasting until October 30, additional checks will be implemented at the waiting rooms of Hongqiao Railway Station and Shanghai Railway Station.

Passengers at both stations can expect their luggage to be scanned and x-rayed in the station's waiting areas, rather than through the standard manual checks.

Travelers are recommended to arrive early to both stations to allow more time for inspection.

The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China will commence on October 18.
