The Guangdong Southern Tigers, of the China Basketball Association, have acquired NBA power-forward Andrew Nicholson after he was put on waivers by the Portland Trailblazers last month.

Selected 19th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, Nicholson had a promising rookie season, although both his productiveness and court time have been steadily decreasing ever since.

Nicholson will join a growing list of ex-NBAers to play for the Dongguan-based Southern Tigers, a list which includes Carlos Boozer, Jeff Adrien and Ike Diogu.

The 27-year-old Canadian, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, averaged six points and three rebounds over the 285 games of his NBA career, according to Mississagua.com.

Most recently, Nicholson played on the Canadian national squad at the FIBA Americup in South America, where the team went 1-2.
