Shanghai isn't the only city suffering from a crazy heatwave this week — much of Eastern China is also currently experiencing scorching hot temperatures.
According to the Washington Post, a big chunk of China is currently trapped in a "Heat Dome," which can best be described as a "large ridge of high pressure." Don't believe us? Just check out this map:
The heat dome will likely continue to hold in place for much of the week.

Subway and bus routes have been shut down in parts of Beijing.
Three other people are still missing near the China-North Korea border after climbing a mountain to pick mushrooms.
This year has so far seen 28 high-temperature days in Beijing. The heat will subside somewhat over the next 24 hours.
A weather station in Northwest China's Turpan, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region hit 52.2 degrees Celsius.
A flight attendant and a passenger on the Air China flight were reportedly "thrown to the ceiling" of the plane.
No let up in the heat for now.
