Basketball great Scottie Pippen was in Guangzhou this weekend to lend a hand at the Official Draw Ceremony of FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers.
The event was held yesterday, May 7, and consisted of four draws, one for African teams, one for teams from Asia, one for Europeans and another for teams hailing from the Americas.
The draw determined the layout for the four regional qualifiers, played within six qualifying frames, which will be held between November of this year and February 2019.
A two-time Olympic gold medallist with Team USA, a player on the iconic Dream Team and a former Chicago Bull, Pippen was joined by Aussie hoop-master Andrew Gaze, Andrei Kirilenko of Russia and Yi Jianglian of China’s national team.
Naturally, a visit to the ‘City of the Five Rams’ means getting a couple Instagram-worthy shots with iconic landmarks in the background, like the Canton Tower:
