The maiden voyage of the C919, China's first domestically built passenger jet, was a success.
The plane took off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport (causing some delays) on Friday, May 5 at 2pm and flew for a duration of 79 minutes.
The five-person first flight crew will include captain Cai Jun, co-pilot Wu Xin, observers Qian Jin, and flight test engineers Ma Fei and Zhang Dawei.

The plane is manufactured by Shanghai-based firm COMAC and can carry up to 168 passengers. It has standard and extended ranges of 4,075 kilometers and 5,555 kilometers, respectively.
