Around 3pm on Monday afternoon a yawning sinkhole opened up behind a Futian District building, swallowing an unattended bike.
The sinkhole was about three meters deep, accordng to a Southern Metropolis Daily report. Pictures show it running a few meters along a wall.
Arriving on the scene behind the Gangxia-area Caifu building, a Southern Metropolis Daily reporter spoke to two people who surmised the sinkhole was due to construction in the area.

Last Wednesday residents of a nearby building received a notice that subway construction would mean the closure of a nearby parking lot.
By Tuesday morning the sinkhole had been filled with sand and roped off.
Chinese language news reporters arrived Tuesday morning to film video of the sand-filled hole.
"This is nothing. It's just construction work," a guard said, standing just outside the roped off area around the sinkhole on Tuesday.
