An American underwater drone seized last week by China has now been returned, the BBC reports.
The unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) was seized by a Chinese naval vessel last Thursday approximately 90 kilometers west of the Philippines' Subic Bay. Yesterday it was reported that the exchange would happen in an "agreed location in the South China Sea."
The incident has set off a fresh wave of tense diplomatic relations between the United States and China just a month before US President-elect Donald Trump takes office. Just last week, Trump appointed Iowa governor Terry Branstad as the country's ambassador to China.
