Since Trump's stunning defeat over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 US Presidential Election last week, the pheasant has drawn extra attention from visitors at Hangzhou's Wild Animal World. The pheasant has become an internet celeb on Sina Weibo, China's microblogging platform.

The Golden pheasant, a rare red-bellied bird with golden-yellow feathers draped over its head and neck, is a protected species in China. It originates from western China, and can typically be found in Gansu province, as well as the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi.
