A Chinese tourist's remedy for homesickness reportedly left Russian hotel employees nauseated when they discovered a bathtub full of hairy crabs in his room.
A Hong Kongese guest, recounting the experience on his Facebook page, said he noticed an awful smell coming from his fellow guest's room. So bad was the stench that the staff initially believed the occupant had committed suicide, and that the corpse must have been left in the room to rot.
It turns out that the source of the smell was actually a bunch of hairy crabs that the guest had purchased at a local market. He had been harboring the crustaceous culprits in his bathtub to keep them fresh while he devised a way of cooking them.
The hotel at which the incident took place had reportedly devoted an entire floor to Chinese tourists visiting from Shandong.
While the user who uploaded the story to his Facebook page didn't name the country where the incident took place, his most recent posts suggested that he had been staying in a hotel in Vladivostok, Russia.
The Chinese National Tourism Administration, which keeps track of misbehaving tourists, must certainly not be pleased with this hairy situation.
