Super Typhoon Nepartak is already wreaking havoc after hitting Taiwan in the middle of the night.
Images surfaced of debris and vehicles strewn along the streets of Taitung after the storm slammed the region.

The typhoon is heading westward and is expected to make landfall in Chinese mainland today. It will approach Shanghai as early as tomorrow.
The storm comes just as China is reeling from a series of storms and floods that have killed 180 and displaced more than 1.4 million people along the Yangtze River.
