We all love China's bullet trains, and now even more of them are on the way. According to China News, China's high speed rail system saw its biggest expansion in over after more than 300 extra trains were put into operation over the weekend, including 100 new bullet trains.

With more trains between middle and small cities dispatched in an effort to improve traffic in less developed areas, the overall number of passenger trains has reached 3,400, with over 2,100 of them high-speed trains. One hundred passenger trains were added to the middle and western parts of China, while thirty special traveller-targeted train services were also introduced. Shanghai alone will get 33 new trains.

To cater to the 2022 Winter Olympics, three inter-city trains between Beijing and Zhangjiakou will be scheduled to operate, reducing the travel time between the two cities to less than three hours.

China also introduced more 'red eye' overnight train services to meet ever-increasing demand.

Apart from announcing the added services, transportation authorities have also vowed to not raise ticket prices. China Railway Corp (CRC) plans to spend more than RMB3.5 trillion over the next five years to expand the country's railway system.
