Woman Downs 5 Kilograms of Durian to Pass Security

A woman failed to pass security at a railway station in Anhui province on Monday when her bag emitted strange odors that caught the attention of police standing nearby.

Upon sifting through her luggage, security guards identified the culprit: a massive durian fruit weighing close to 5 kilograms (10 pounds). Security barred her from entering the train, explaining that items "getting in the way of public health" (i.e. durian, stinky tofu) were not allowed on board.

But instead of handing over her putrid prize, the woman decided to consume the entire fruit in what could only be called a revolting (but somewhat moving) display of affection for durian.

The aggressive binge culminated in a colorful finale – the woman was seen dabbing away a vicious nosebleed soon after.

Onlookers at the scene and netizens reading about the story weren’t surprised, however, since anyone well versed in traditional Chinese medicine knows too much durian can cause excess ‘internal heat,’ which provokes rashes, nosebleeds and sometimes even a fever.

Known as the ‘king of fruit,’ durian is praised for its robust aphrodisiac and nutritious properties. Though popular in fried pastries or on pizza, it has been banned in numerous hotels and public areas throughout Asia due to its odor.
