Sichuan Man Drives Lamborghini to Deliver Baozi

Only in China does a man drive a luxury sports car worth RMB8,000,000 to deliver steamed buns likely worth no more than RMB2.

On January 6, a man from Sichuan province got behind the wheels of a Lamborghini with a sack of piping hot baozi to deliver to customers the day his restaurant opened in Chengdu.

Why does he do it? According to Chinanews.com, the man claims he’s worried about food safety in China – but very fond of baozi – and thus wants to ensure that his precious buns arrive in the hands of customers untainted and ready-to-eat. He also adds that driving a luxury car helps convince patrons that his baozi are safe (because trusting a guy with a Lamborghini just comes naturally).

If you’re like us and are already taking office orders for a round of showy baozi for lunch, be aware that customers need to request 100 or more stuffed buns before they’ll come speeding along in the back of a sports car – oh, and you should probably live in Chengdu.
